The Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia met with representatives of the private sector to acquaint them with the updates outlined in the new law.
2023-11-14 10:58:32The meeting was opened by the First Deputy President of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia, Dr. Otar Chakhunashvili, with a welcome speech. Archil Javelidze, Head of the Private Sector Oversight Department, Paata Javakhishvili, Deputy Head of the same department, and senior lawyer Nino Katamadze, along with Shavleg Todua, acting Head of the Legal Department, introduced the main innovations outlined by the law to the representatives of private companies.
Representatives of private companies had the opportunity to thoroughly familiarize themselves with all the changes, the majority of which, following the implementation of the new law, will take effect on March 1, 2024. Attention was given to issues crucial for the private sector representatives in navigating the obligations imposed by the new law. Notably, key focus areas included the role of the Personal Data Protection Officer and the processing of data for direct marketing purposes.
The meeting was conducted in an interactive mode. Representatives of private companies had the opportunity to discuss matters important to them and receive answers to questions based on examples of specific cases. Employees of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia expressed their readiness to provide telephone or face-to-face consultations to those who may have additional questions during the implementation process of the law.
The Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia will actively continue conducting sectoral meetings in the future.
