2022-08-01 15:39:34The Head of Personal Data Protection Service, Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili, and the First Deputy Head of Personal Data Protection Service, Dr. Otar Chakhunashvili met with the Chair of the Legal Issues Committee of the Parliament, Anri Okhanashvili, and the Chair of Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, Mikheil Sarjveladze.
At the meeting held today, the parties discussed the 12-point plan of the European Commission, along with anti-corruption measures, one of the points of which refers to the strengthening of the Personal Data Protection Service
Also, expanding the regional coverage of the Personal Data Protection Service was discussed at the meeting.
"An important challenge for Personal Data Protection Service is the adoption of the new law. In terms of functional strengthening, we consider regional coverage, the creation of regional offices, this will be one of the important challenges and innovations that will happen for the first time within the framework of the Georgian Personal Data Protection Supervisory Institute" - announced Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili.
In the current week, a working group will be created at the Legal Affairs Committee, which will work both on issues related to anti-corruption measures and on the further institutional development of the Service.
At the meeting, the head of the Service, Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili, presented the vision and proposals regarding the institutional development of the Service, which are discussed in the scope of the working group.
Personal Data Protection Service will actively cooperate with the Parliament to strengthen the Service and ensure the implementation of a high standard of personal data protection in the country.
