The Head of Personal Data Protection Service, Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili, and the First Deputy Head of the Service, Dr. Otar Chakhunashvili commenced the cycle of regional meetings
2022-07-21 15:23:14Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili held an introductory meeting with Tornike Rizhvadze, the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and introduced him to the main directions, plans, as well as challenges of the activities of the Service. The meeting was also attended by the First Deputy Head of Personal Data Protection Service, Dr. Otar Chakhunashvili, the Head of the Administration of the Government of Adjara, Tinatin Zoidze and the Head of the Office of the Government of Adjara, Jaba Surmanidze.
Additionally, in a broader format, the meeting was held with other representatives of the public sector. The Head of the Service, the First Deputy Head, and other employees of the Personal Data Protection Service met with the Heads of structural units of the Ministries of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Mayors of various municipalities, and other employees of local self-governments and the Supreme Election Commission.
During the introductory meeting, Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili emphasized the mandate of the Personal Data Protection Service, its functions as an independent supervisory authority, and the importance of a close and cooperative partnership with the municipalities.
The Head of the Public Sector Oversight Department of the Service, Ketevan Kratsashvili, and the Deputy Head of the Department, Sophio Shamugia spoke about the challenges in respect of personal data protection in municipalities and ways to solve them.
In the concluding part of the meeting, the representatives of the municipalities focused on several practical issues related to the processing of personal data and the need for cooperation with the Service.
Furthermore, another working meeting was held at the Prosecutor's Office of Adjara, where the Head of the Personal Data Protection Service, Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili and the Head of the Law Enforcement Oversight Department, Ia Kiphiani met with the Prosecutor of Adjara, Zaza Metonidze, and other employees of the Prosecutor's Office. As discussed at the meeting, from September, the Personal Data Protection Service will hold training sessions for the employees of the Prosecutor's Office of Adjara.
