The First Intensive Teaching Course was Conducted on Privacy and Data Protection Issues for the Law Enforcement Bodies
2021-07-22 19:02:01The learning course aimed to strengthen the professional capacities of the representatives of law enforcement which in turn contribute to the improvement of human rights protection, including privacy and data protection standard and quality in this sector.
Sophio Jiadze, Deputy State Inspector and Vahagn Muradyan, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia handed over the certificates to the successful participants.
30 representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Defense, Special Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, the State Security Service and the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance underwent a several months of intensive training.
The online programme was comprised of the European regulations and the case law on privacy and data protection. It also covered domestic legal standards, existing practice in law enforcement in this field and recommendations.
The training process was led by the representative of the State Inspector’s Service, Mariam Elkanashvili.
The State Inspector’s Service pays great attention to the protection of privacy and data protection by law enforcement bodies. The Service will actively continue to ensuring raising qualification and implementation of relevant training programmes in the future.
