“Combining the efforts of the state institutions and civil society in human rights field is crucial. That is why we continue annual practice of introducing the results of our activities and challenges we face to non-governmental organizations. We have a good experience of cooperation and I believe our coordination will be more effective in the process of overcoming the obstacles the Service faces”- stated the State Inspector, Londa Toloraia at the opening of the meeting.

All three directions of the Service were discussed at the meeting - personal data protection, monitoring lawfulness of covert investigative actions, effective investigation of certain crimes committed by a representative of a law enforcement body, civil servant or person equal to such a person. 

Particular attention was paid to the practical and legislative challenges that the State Inspector’s Service faces in its practice. Among them were the following issues: the draft law on personal data protection submitted by the Service to the Parliament of Georgia, obstructing factors hindering effective investigation and measures that should be taken to address them. Also, the need for strengthening human, material and technical resources of the Service was mentioned.

The working meeting was conducted in an interactive manner. The participants asked questions and expressed their opinions regarding the means and steps for strengthening the Service’s capacities.

The State Inspector’s Service will actively continue constructive collaboration with the non-governmental organizations in the future.
