The State Inspector is attending T-PD Plenary Meeting
2019-06-20 15:09:57State of play, ratifications and accessions since modernization of Convention 108 of the Council of Europe – to discuss these and other related issues 38th Plenary Meeting of the Consultative Committee (T-PD) of the Convention 108 is taking place in Strasbourg. The meeting is attended by the State Inspector Tamar Kaldani and Head of International Relations Department of the Service, Niko Tatulashvili.
Within the frames of the meeting, issues related to implementation of modernized Convention 108 and its follow-up mechanism are discussed together with state of play of signatures and ratifications of amending protocol. Besides, committee members discuss law enforcement transborder data access, 2020-2021 work programme of the committee and other priority issues under the work programme, including face recognition, data protection in education systems and recommendation on the protection of individuals with regards to profiling.
The committee members further review cooperation activities of the committee with other Council of Europe bodies, recent developments in data protection and other cooperation activities.
Noteworthy to mention, within the frames of her visit to Strasbourg, Tamar Kaldani participates in the conference related to Convention 108 titled: “Convention 108+: Better protection us in digital age”. Tamar Kaldani together with her colleagues from Italy, Argentina and Philippines participates in the session related to practical aspects of the Convention. The inspector delivered speech about implementation of the Convention 108 and the activities of the Committee.
The Council of Europe Convention 108 Consultative Committee is one of the leading platforms of international cooperation related to personal data protection. The Inspector’s Office represents Georgia in the Committee for the fourth year. In June 2018, within the framework of the 34th Plenary Meeting, Tamar Kaldani was elected as first Vice Chair of the Bureau of the Consultative Committee (T-PD) of Convention 108.
