2016-09-28 13:51:34The Office of the Personal Data Protection Inspector has been named as the most open and transparent public institution for the third time. The Personal Data Protection Inspector, Tamar Kaldani, accepted the award at a ceremony organised by the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) with the support of the Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF).
“Transparency and responsibility towards the society are our organisation’s main values and acknowledged principles. The disclosure of public information is one of the means for realising this principle in practice. We are addressed not only by non-governmental organisations, but also by citizens, students, and interested parties, and we do our best to disclose information immediately,” Kaldani said.
In 2016, 55 public institutions provided 100 percent access to public information. The award ceremony was dedicated to the International Day for Universal Access to Information that is marked on September 28th.
IDFI has been organising the ceremony of Georgia’s most and least open public institutions forseven years. The Personal Data Protection Inspector also received this award in the first year of the organisation’s operation.
