A new level of cooperation between Georgia and Eurojust set to commence
2018-02-02 18:22:10Prosecutor’s Office, investigation and judicial system in line with European standards – the process of negotiating the agreement between Georgia and Eurojust has been launched.
Issues relating to future cooperation and the conclusion of a bilateral agreement were discussed at the meeting in The Hague, where the Office of the Personal Data Protection Inspector of Georgia was represented by the Head of Legal Department, Mrs. Salome Bakhsoliani.
Eurojust is an agency of the European Union responsible for coordinating judicial co-operation in criminal matters among the EU member states, as well as third countries and partner states in the process of European integration. The agreement between Georgia and Eurojust will envisage sharing information between relevant agencies, appointment of liaison officers and liaison magistrates. Commencement of negotiations between Georgia and Eurojust with the aim of concluding a cooperation agreement is a part of deepening cooperation with the EU and its institutions in the process of Georgia’s European integration.
Georgian delegation was hosted by the President of Eurojust, Ladislav Hamran and other representatives of the agency.
