Office of the Personal Data Protection Inspector received Gender Equality Award
2015-07-07 15:47:23On July 6, 2015 the Office of the Personal Data Protection Inspector received award for "Gender balance at the executive level". Public and private organizations participated in the competition which was carried out by the Council for Gender Equality of the Georgian Parliament in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The participants were greeted by Mr. Shombi Sharp, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Georgia. The event was attended by the President of Georgia.
Deputy Personal Data Protection Inspector, Mr. Nika Bregvadze was awarded by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Mr. Gigla Agulashvili, the former member of the Council for Gender Equality of the Parliament of Georgia. While granting the award, the Minister noted that gender equality is particularly important in public service. Organizers of the event stressed that despite the fact that the Office of the Personal Data Inspector is newly established institution the gender balance is ensured as 3 women and 2 men are working at the executive level.
“For us, it is important to ensure proper gender balance and equal participation of women and men in decision-making process. We have never given a priority to particular gender, the only criteria used is a professionalism” – stated Mr. Nika Bregvadze, Deputy Inspector.
This was the 4th Gender Equality Competition and it was organized by the Council for Gender Equality of the Georgian Parliament in collaboration with UNDP.
