Romania's Experience in the Visa Liberalization Process
2015-02-05 14:27:04On February 2-3, 2015, representatives of the Office of the Personal Data Protection Inspector visited Bucharest, the Capital of the Romania.
The Head of the International Relations Department, Ms. Nino Sarishvili; Lawyer, Ms. Salome Bakhsoliani and the Informational Security Analyst, Mr. Dimitri Katsiashvili met the representatives of the Legal Department of the Parliament of the Romania and visited the Office of the Personal Data Protection Inspector. The activities of the Romanian PDA, the mechanisms of the dealing with the citizens’ complaints and control over data processing process were discussed on the meeting.
“The establishment of the high standards of the data protection in the country is one of the important parts of the Visa Liberalization Action Plan. Experience sharing with the Romanian colleagues was very interesting and relevant for us” – mentioned Ms. Nino Sarishvili.
The representatives of the Georgian PDA visited Romania within the scope of the project “Supporting Georgia during the visa liberalizations process in the directions of the data protection and elimination of the discrimination” implemented with the assistance of the Open Society Georgia Foundation and Center of the European Politics of Romania. The goal of the project is to strengthen the Office of the Inspector and the Office of the Public Defender of Georgia in order to meet the requirements of the EU in the process of the visa liberalization.
