The Bureau of the Personal Data Protection Committee of the Council of Europe (T-PD BUR) is discussing personal data protection in relation to the development of the medical technologies
2014-10-01 14:17:27The 33th meeting of the Committee on the Personal Data Protection of the Council of Europe is being held in Paris, France. The meeting is attended by the Head of the International Relations and Communications Department of the Personal Data Protection Inspector’s Office, Ms. Nino Sarishvili.
Several important issues, inter alia modernization of the Convention of for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data (Convention 108), revision of the Recommendation of the Committee of the Ministers of the Council of Europe on the Protection of Personal Data used for Employment Purposes and challenges regarding personal data protection related to the development of the medical technologies are being discussed at the Bureau meeting.
Establishment of the personal data protection standards while exchanging information between states for the administrative and taxation purposes, as well as processing of genetic data and storage of biobanks are also on the agenda of the Bureau.
The Bureau session will close tomorrow, on October 2, 2014.
The Personal Data Protection Committee is established on the basis of the Council of Europe Convention 108 for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data. 46 Council of Europe Members States are represented therein. The Head of the International Relations and Communications Department was unanimously elected as the member of the Bureau of the Committee on June 4, 2014.
